Maria Wendt is one of the most impressive creator operators on social media.

She’s a millionaire (now doing $1M/month), but she’s using a very unconventional strategy.

Also, her mission counterpositions her against many of the other players in her niche…

Instead of helping a small number of women make 6 figures, she helps a massive number of women add an extra $100-$1,000 a month to their budget.

For the vast majority of families, an extra few hundred dollars a month lets them make an extra payment on their car or guarantees their kids can go to summer camp.

It’s not a crazy promise compared to the “Make 10k in 10 days!” crowd, but it’s huge for the vast majority of families.

And people trust her to fulfill on that promise.

Maria is one of the most consistently high-performing accounts we've ever tracked.

I’ve had lots of request to reverse engineer what makes he so successful, so I ran her account through Sandcastles to see how her content is doing so well, even with all the selling. Here's what the data says…

How Maria Wendt Sells Every Day Without Burning Out Her Audience

There's a tension baked into every content account:

  • The more you hard sell, the faster you burn out your organic audience

  • The less you hard sell: The faster you burn out yourself (because you’re not making any money)

Most creators handle it with some version of the 80/20 rule: Lead with value the overwhelming majority of the time, and earn the right to pitch occasionally.

Nearly every account we've covered in this series runs that play.

The content builds the trust, and the selling shows up rarely enough that nobody resents it.

Maria breaks that stereotype completely (and it’s probably why she’s making more money than everyone else).

A full 34% of her content output is business and monetization content where her offers, her results, and her students' results live.

Basically: She's hard selling, in some form, every third post.

By conventional wisdom, her audience should be exhausted of this bottom of funnel content, her reach should be cratering, and her unfollows should be stacking.

Instead, she's one of the most consistently selling, and consistently growing, accounts we've ever tracked.

The reason is sitting clearly in her topic, format, and hook curation.

Sort the 96 Reels Sandcastles analyzed by median outlier score and the ranking is almost a perfect inverse of which Reels carry an offer. Her best-performing buckets sell nothing, and (at first glance) her selling buckets are her worst performers.

When you look deeper, you realize she's effectively running two channels out of one feed: An audience-acquisition channel and a direct-response channel, and she's letting the algorithm's own distribution sort them.

The personal content goes hunting for strangers while the selling content stays home and works the room.

The split is clean in the numbers…

Having all of the social data from Sandcastles is super helpful because you can use natural language to have it bifurcate types and analyze independently

Read that engagement row carefully, because it inverts what most people expect to see.

Her selling Reels have higher engagement and lower reach.

When you have the context of how Maria's account is split between selling/not-selling content, her topics get a lot more interesting. She's running 4 main plays here:

One quick lesson in reading your own data before we move on: Averages here would have lied to you. Motherhood averages a 54x outlier and looks like the runaway winner, but those two flamingo posts are carrying the whole bucket, and its median is 4.8x. Median tells you what a bucket does on a normal day. Average tells you what one banger did to the math. I spot this stuff instantly, but the workflow I have below does this work for you so you don’t have to think so hard.

Last thing to mention if you’re following Maria’s strategy is that her hooks are wildly clear.

Maria writes and talks on a 3rd-grade reading level, and I mean that as the sincerest compliment.

People have short attention spans and really struggle to grasp complex concepts, especially in 90-second Reels.

If you’re trying to sound like the smartest in the room, you’re going to fail. If you want to be the smartest in the room, talk like a 3rd grader.

You can see this best in Maria’s hooks:

Across all 96 of her analyzed Reels, 75% of the words in her opening lines are one syllable

She writes in single independent clauses, one idea at a time, and then stops.

Look at what that produces:

Not one of those makes you hold anything in your head. Each is a complete thought that lands and clears.

Simplicity doesn't separate her winners from her losers. Her 5x-and-above Reels open at almost exactly the same reading level as her below-average ones. That means plain language is the price of entry for content with an average 775K views.

But details like that are invisible unless you go looking for them. So here’s how to go looking for them…

How To Use This Report To Find Your Ratio Of Nurture To Sales Content

These screenshots I’ve got above are all part of a much longer HTML report generated by the Sandcastles MCP of non-obvious patterns you could never spot by scrolling her feed.

Here's how to run this on any account in your niche so you can build your winning strategy:

Step 01 — Bulk analyze in Sandcastles

In the web app, add a channel to your watchlist, select the creator's channel in the Videos tab, filter above 2% engagement to filter out brand deals and narrow the search to the last 12 months. Then, bulk analyze their last 100 videos.

The analysis will be 10x faster if you do the bulk analyzing in Sandcastles web app first before piping the data into Claude via the MCP.

Step 02 — Prompt Claude via the MCP

Make sure the Sandcastles MCP is connected in Claude, then give it a prompt like:

Pull in the last 100 videos posted in the last 12 months from the XYZ Channel. They should all be deep analyzed already. If any aren’t deep analyze them. I want you to build a super visual report, breaking down the best performing:

• Topic buckets

• Hooks

• Formats

• Scriptwriting tactics

• Non-obvious patterns

Give me the full breakdown of the 100 analyzed videos, and use the insights to help me best understand how to improve my next batch of videos. Build in dynamic HTML.

The key phrase is "dynamic HTML" because that's what produces the visual, chart-heavy report you're seeing in the screenshots. It one-shots the charts, the stat cards, the topic and hook rankings, all of it.

It even pulled a list of 6 things her top-line numbers hide:

Step 03 — Have a conversation with the data

The report is the starting point, but if you keep asking follow-ups, you’re going to be in an even better place. I’ll ask stuff like:

  • Why is this person growing so fast?

  • What am I missing?

  • What are they doing that I'm not seeing?

  • What are non-obvious insights I might be missing?

That back-and-forth feels like having a social media sparring partner in your business and uncovers even better ideas.

Sandcastles allows you to run this super in-depth report on your own channel as well as any competitor channel in your niche.

All you need to run it is the Sandcastles MCP and bulk-analyzed videos to run this. Start your risk-free trial here, connect the MCP, and go find what your niche's feed won't tell you.
