How RPN Keeps Winning In The Internet's Most Saturated Niche

The combination of speed and cinematics is 1 of 1

RPN is one of the most impressive content creators on the internet.

At first glance, his channel looks like one of two things:

Either a cinematic tech creator with world-class visuals, or an AI news guy covering the latest drops from Claude, Gemini, and Perplexity within hours of launch.

Turns out, he’s winning at both.

Roberto Nickson is a one-man media army running one of the most deliberate content systems I've seen.

We’ve been running these Creator Breakdowns for a couple months now…RPN has 574K average views to an 884K audience, with a 4.5% engagement rate.

That's the highest engagement of any creator we've analyzed in this series, at any size.

He's doing a fraction of the volume of most other creators, but still consistently outperforming them.

Here's what the data says on how he’s able to outperform so heavily in such a crowded niche (tech & AI)…

The 5 Topics That Keep RPN Remarkably Consistent

I had Sandcastles analyze RPN’s last 100 posts, spanning a full year of content. He's posting 8-9 times a month & averaging 574K views per post.

His topics around AI are completely oversaturated. But the gap between his numbers and everyone else's is staggering…

Topic 01: AI Models & Assistants

Every niche has a "when it ships, you ship" topic. The news cycle is an automatic winner when done well because your viewers are looking to understand the latest news, you’re one of the staples they go to.

RPN keeps up with drops from Claude, Gemini, Perplexity, Google, Apple, Meta, and new model releases at a faster pace than almost anyone in the space.

Know your news cycle and be ready to move fast when something happens in your category. Speed on the right topic wins if you’re in the first 12-24 hours.

Topic 02: Culture, Creators & Society

Your expertise applied to an adjacent topic is a differentiation cheat code. The POV + expertise is yours, but the attention is borrowed so almost nobody else can make that exact video with that exact formula.

RPN can dip his toe into pop culture because he’s on top of what’s going on in adjacent spaces.

Find the moments everyone in your world is already talking about, then reveal the angle only someone with your background would catch.

Topic 03: AI Creative Tools

Most of RPN’s posts in this category are consistent hits that are carrying the weight of his account in the day-to-day.

Topic 04: Robots, Hardware & Devices

RPN knows that to use AI, you need a device to use it on…so he covers the hardware you’re buying, too.

This looks like iPhone drops, humanoid robots, smart glasses, monitors, etc.. It's all one degree of separation from his core AI topic, and his audience passes through it on their way to everything else he makes:

If you can find an adjacent topic your audience is passing through on the way to your niche, you’ll always find new viewers. You get to stay in your lane, but you’ll also cover the on-ramp to it.

Topic 05: AI Agents & Automation

The numbers are modest so far, but RPN keeps testing this bucket because AI Agents are the biggest sub-trend to hit the broader AI wave in 2026, so he's getting reps in early. This is his best post in the bucket:

It might turn out that agents don't deserve to be their own pillar and should just live inside one of his other bucket but for now he’s going to run the posts, read the data, and let the data tell him whether the topic earns a permanent slot in the rotation.

Leave one slot in your topic mix for the emerging trend in your space. The data will tell you soon enough whether it stays or gets folded into something else.

One of the highest leverage things you can do as a creator is be deep analyzing your own channel on a weekly basis.

To make this easier for you, we just released our Dashboard feature, which automatically analyzes your recent videos and provides a report breaking out which topics, formats, hooks, and scriptwriting tactics are working for you (and exactly how to double down on them in your next videos).

The 5 Formats That Turn Commodity News Into 500K Views

There are 20 formats that work best on social media. RPN consistently runs 5 of them over and over.

Here's what each one can teach you about your own rotation…

Format 01: Breakdown

If you're in a news-driven niche, the breakdown should be your default format. The entire value proposition is translation between something technical that happened, and you making it make sense in < 60 seconds.

This is RPN's engine. Nearly half his catalog are breakdowns:

The one caution with becoming a one-format creator is that your ceiling gets set by how good the news is that week. When the news cycle is hot, you eat. When it's quiet, you starve. So don’t be a one-format creator.

Format 02: Case Study

The fastest way to upgrade any educational content is to apply your tool or your lens to someone in real time. RPN's #1 and #2 posts of all time both live here:

Breakdowns = "This tool is powerful"
Case Studies = "Watch this tool BE powerful in real time"

Format 03: Skit

Sometimes the data tells you to do something that feels like coloring outside the creative lines. Listen to it.

RPN makes a lot of videos covering the news, but his really creative, non-typical posts are averaging more than double his account baseline. This is where he’s 1 of 1.

When a format doubles your baseline, even on a tiny sample, it’s worth it to play.

Format 04: Tutorial

Tutorials have a place in the format rotation for any educational creator, but top-performing tutorials come down to packaging.

The first example is packaged as a reaction to a meme, the second is playing off iconic movie moments. Every AI creator is doing “how to” tutorials but RPN is packaging them entirely different so they win.

Format 05: Listicle

When you find a winning format, remix the angle each time you run it back.

RPN found a great one: "five creators worth following." The first run crushed:

Audiences adapt fast, and the exact same play loses novelty each time you rerun it. The listicle is one of the most repeatable formats in content. The creators who get the most shelf life out of it are the ones who evolve the angle with every rep.

How To Run RPN's Playbook On Your Own Account

RPN's system only looks like it's about AI. Strip the topic away and the framework works in any niche. Here's how to run it for your category…

Step 1 — Find your "when it ships, you ship" topic. RPN covers every major AI drop within hours. Your niche has a news cycle too whether that’s product launches, rule changes, cultural moments. Know the news cycle, and be ready to move fast when something happens. These are top of funnel expander moments.

Step 2 — Show don’t tell. RPN's biggest posts are demonstrations of his expertise IRL. The $5K martial arts experiment and the Bad Bunny breakdown are major outliers for him. He had the same news everyone else had, but he framed as proof of his own skills instead of a 5 paragraph essay so you trust him as an expert, not as a reporter. Find a way to visualize your knowledge in a unique packaging that doesn’t feel generic.

Step 3 — Scale the stakes past your niche. His Nano Banana post didn't say "new image model dropped." It said "billions of people are unprepared for what happens next." Before you post, ask who the stakes are for…then speak to those people directly.

Step 4 — Run your own hook ladder. Pull your last 100 posts through Sandcastles, drop the CSV into Claude with the MCP connected, and ask it to group your hooks by sentence structure and rank each group by average outlier score. That's the exact analysis we ran on RPN’s channel. Yours hidden trends are in the data, you just have to let Claude find them.

Step 5 — Know your formula's half-life. Even great formulas have about 2–3 runs before the audience's brain adapts. RPN's data shows it clearly, and yours will, too. When the scores start dropping on a repeat, that's your signal to reload with a fresh angle.

Cover the news, frame it like nobody else does with a novel visual package, and monitor the data before the formula goes stale.
